Athletics Nelson in association with The Summer House are proud to present the 4th running of the Harris Hill - Top Challenge with all proceeds raised going to Ronald McDonald Charities Christchurch. ![]()
Race Venue is at The Summer House, Harris Hill, Sunnybank Rise Nelson![]()
Two courses, both will be a challenge:![]()
- 7km course (runners & walkers) 350 meters of elevation![]()
- 10km course (runners only) over 650 meters of elevation![]()
Spot prizes and refreshments will be available from the Summer House.![]()
Entry $30.00 per person with all proceeds going to Ronald McDonald Charities Christchurch.![]()
Suburban Buses will be running a free shuttle service from Clifton Terrace School from 8.15am to Harris Hill and return after the event, we thank Suburban Buses for their fantastic support to this event and encourage competitors and supporters to use the bus.![]()

Wednesday - Turf Hotel 5km ![]()
Race one of this popular series this Wednesday 02 April. Meet at The Turf Hotel, Songer Street Stoke, back decking area if fine inside if wet, open to everyone from beginners to the serious athlete. $5 entry fee, (14 & under free), enter on the night - heaps of spot prizes. NOTE: everyone start together at 6.10pm, arrive early to register, bit of a walk to start line. Race one will be the Echodale course map here connect.garmin.com/modern/course/12195388 please wear bright clothing no black or dark blue tops, be bright be seen. Don't miss this one, bring a friend along and enjoy the run/walk together, great training for Harris Hill and The Nelson Half. Everyone is welcome and a great way to get out and compete with other walkers and runners. Wednesday's long range weather is possible light showers. Saturday - Wallace Shield one![]()
The winter season begins with race one of the Wallace Shield. In this "Guess your time" event, participants run or walk without watches or phones. At registration give your estimated time for running or walking your chosen distance. The winner is the person whose finish time is closest to their estimated time.![]()
Meet at the Old Domain, Rabbit Island on Saturday afternoon. There are three distance options:![]()
- Adult & high school runners: 3 laps (5km)![]()
- Walkers: 2 laps (3.4km)![]()
- Juniors (Intermediate/primary/pre-school) choose from1 lap (1.7km) - 2 laps (3.4km) - 3 laps (5km).![]()
Registration is from 1.30pm - 2:15pm in the Old Domain picnic area. Race briefing 2.20pm. Race start 2.30pm. Every competitor needs a Webscorer number. check websites for course map and webscorer links to check your number. Waimea Harrier event. next week Wallace Shield two.
